You may use screenshots from Google Maps and Earth in a book or other publications without needing to request our permission, as long as you're distributing 5,000 or fewer copies. You must adhere to our attribution guidelines, and you can't alter how the product interface looks or use screenshots out of context.

Google's Geo Tools allow students, teachers and others a way to learn about our planet. Anyone can easily use these tools to explore and discover places in the World, map out new knowledge, tell stories and immersive themselves in other landscapes and cultures. Google Earth is now web-based and works on Chromebooks!

Street View imagery can only be used in digital advertisements where you're using the Google Maps APIs or the imagery is embedded or linked to on your website using HTML and URL provided on Google Maps. You may not screenshot Street View imagery or remove it from embedded sources for any purpose.

Google logo The logo must never be used in a way that implies an endorsement or affiliation with Google where such a relationship does not exist, such as being featured on the cover of a book or in a TV commercial.
